Magda Azucena Doyle

Magda Azucena Doyle is a PhD candidate at the University of Georgia, Athens. She obtained her MA in Spanish at Auburn University in Alabama and studied Political Science for her BA at the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua. She has been on the Adjunct Faculty at Hunter College/CUNY, Fordham University, University of Georgia, and Columbus State University. She has published poetry in Voces del Café, and recently developed an interested in writing short stories and plays. The Theatre Works! workshop appealed to her, since a considerable amount of her time has been devoted to her mother’s caregiving and volunteering with social service and educational institutions.  Her play, Sunshine, was performed on December 17, 2018 at the A.R.T./New York Theatres Mezzanine Theatre, as part of TheaterWorks! Short Plays on Caregiving at CUNY.  It is set in the Intensive Care Unit and explores the challenges family caregivers face in communicating with medical professionals about their own needs and that of their family members.
